Triple Zero Certification is the capstone course for participants to earn their training certification with Construction Instruction, validating that they have the skills to build Zero Defect, Zero Energy, Zero Carbon homes.

This 2.5-day course examines the evolution of advanced enclosure systems, high-performance mechanical design, renewable energy integration, water-efficiency strategies, and carbon-accounting methods used to measure and reduce both operational and embodied carbon—all through the lens of long-term building resiliency.

You’ll explore what it takes to achieve exceptional airtightness levels (below 1 ACH @ 50 Pa), apply mechanical design principles to extremely low-load homes, and implement next-generation ventilation and filtration strategies. The course covers how to find the balance point in enclosure improvements—where energy performance, durability, and comfort align—along with the monitoring, controls, and systems needed to verify and maintain high performance over time.

Participants will work directly with an archetype home designed for their climate zone, beginning with a provided baseline specification. In climate-zone groups, you’ll work with the Ci Team and choose from a broad set of potential improvements—each option influencing your path toward achieving a Triple Zero home. 

You’ll apply the full breadth of your Ci Live training as you refine your plan. You'll identify the “easy wins” and pinpoint where additional time or investment could meaningfully elevate performance. Buildability and practicality are core to every decision.The goal is to understand the return on investment for capital improvements and create a clear, data-driven path to a Triple Zero home.
